Apple's long-awaited wireless headphones, or AirPods as the company calls them, are officially on the market.
Online sales started Tuesday, Dec.
13, and early adopters rushing to buy were soon being informed the product was on backorder, expected to ship in four weeks.
In-store sales are scheduled to begin next week though, and the company says stores will receive regular shipments of AirPods.
AirPods have been floating around the public consciousness since they were unveiled during the September launch of the new iPhone 7, which famously — or infamously — does not include a headphone jack.
At the time, some skeptics openly wondered how long it would take them to lose the new $159 gadgets.
After nearly two months of delays, the new AirPods are now selling with the tag line "Wireless.
" Some consumers now may be hoping their nifty wireless devices don't get lost, thus disappearing like magic.
